September, just time for a quick week away at the beginning of the month, to catch the final rays of summer.
We travelled to Avignon by train, there is something blissful about using trains and in the summer it goes directly from my studio at Kings Cross to Avignon town centre.
It’s a town where the old buildings are put to good use, as this restaurant in the courtyard of an old Monastery proves.
It’s a shame they didn’t bother to finish building the bridge though…….
Back in London we head to Clapham common to see an inflatable installation of coloured areas and live music. Very happening! The young children loved it.
Who are these colourful people outside the normally rather staid Somerset House? Its fashion week and they are hoping to be caught by fashion bloggers and have their images beamed around the world.
Somerset House is host to London Fashion Week, a bi-annual event that just gets better and better. New Boss of the British Fashion Council is Natalie Massanet from Net-a-Porter, it will be interesting to see what she makes of it all.
David Koma is a designer I admire, my friend Julian Vogel, London’s top fashion PR and guru, invited me to see his show, this season it was all about tennis. This shot of the finale gives you a good idea of Koma’s ability to play on a theme but keep it tight.
Meanwhile the London Design Festival week was just beginning and to celebrate we went to an opening at the V and A. I met style maven Priscilla Carluccio with our mutual friend the artist and illustrator Chris Brown.
The gentleman with me in this photo is Damien Whitmore, the brilliant director of Public Affairs and Programming, he has some amzing things lined up including a David Bowie retrospective next year and a Hollywood costume show next month.
