Summer 2016

  / June 21, 2016

Despite the weather June is proving to be an interesting month.
The opening party for the RA Summer Exhibition is always a fun affair and this year was as great as ever. Richard Wilson RA painted the galleries all white and hung the work at eye level so it was easier to view than when hung at all heights. Ron Arad RA made a huge moving piece for the courtyard that records the building and plays its images back on a screen at the front of the gallery.

Grayson Perry RA set the dress code as CLASH so Colin wore a red and pink vintage English Eccentrics shirt from the Dada collection, and Helen wore a Lilac wig, Blue dress, Red Gloves and Orange scarf.

The sculptor Richard Wilson RA curated a punchy show with a lot of “WOW” factor. He also focussed on artists who, like Colin and Helen David, work primarily as a duo or team. This image above shows FOREVER by Brit duo Noble and Webster, and a piece by the French duo Pierre et Gilles.

In other news, I have a large embroidery entitled “Not a Good Girl Yet” in the group show FACE VALUE at the Collyer Bristow Gallery. The embroidery is a picture of me aged between 3 and 4 years old. it is about the time when one develops a conscience or super-ego.
The show is curated by curator and presenter Kathleen Soriano. Kathleen presents SkyArts Portrait Artist of the Year and Landscape Artist of the Year. The gallery is open from Monday to Friday 9.00-5.00 please phone  020 7468 7279 or email jemima.standenjewell@collyerbristow.com to make an appointment.
