YAYOI KUSAMA

Before leaving London for Kyoto, there was one thing we had to see, the Yayoi Kusama exhibition at the Tate Modern. As long time Yayoi fans, we were thrilled with the shiow, which came as near to being inside an artist’s head as a show could. Yayoi is now over 80 and living in an asylum from where she continues to create art on a daily basis.

Yayoi Infinity Net

Yayoi is primarily known for her beautiful Infinity net series of paintings, her obsession with dots and her installations that relate to obsessions with sex and food.

Coming from a traditional background and having to free herself to be an artist must have taken huge strength of character, focus and nerve.
